I have had alot of experience with varying Performing Arts studios, and ArtWorks Acadamy is quickly becoming one of the top competitors. Though fairly new to the game, they already have a devout set of students. The program is well rounded and ever growing, conforming to their needs. The Dance teachers are excellent. They are well educated, teach proper technique, and keep each class "age appropriate." I think, most importantly, the focus on self confidence and tenacity in ALL students is one of their best qualities. Having seen several shows, each student becomes more confident, better trained, and more professional with each performance. The production quality is great, and getting even better as the studio grows, but they never let it over shadow the training and education for which you are paying. Over all, Artworks is a great place to choose for your child whether they are Broadway bound or just looking for an after school activity.
My teenage daughter has been involved with the musical theatre program at ArtWorks Academy since its inception. She has grown by leaps and bounds as she has learned how to sing and perform. Now, her favorite place to be is on stage. I highly value the direction and encouragement that the staff provides, and my daughter considers ArtWorks a home away from home. It is a great place to grow and have fun. We love ArtWorks!
We have been so impressed with ArtWorks! One of my girls has been in their productions since they opened and has loved every minute of it. She went from a shy and inexperienced girl to a confident performer who loves singing, dancing, and acting. We've discovered abilities we didn't know she had!
ArtWorks has great directors who truly care about each student and can see areas of potential and then encourage in those areas. It's still competitive but not cut-throat. A second daughter has since enrolled, and both girls have discovered a passion for music theater and dance. We have been more than impressed with ArtWorks and are sad to have moved away from the Norman area this year! It's a great program!
My daughter takes pre-school dance here. I don't have any experience with the theatrical or acting side of the house. So far, we have been very happy with the classes. The instructor does an excellent job of not making the moves difficult or intimidating and she has been able to pick up the training very quickly. Plus, she is having a blast! We plan to continue training here until there is a reason to go elsewhere.Very satisfied!
My daughter was in the very first production at ArtWorks Academy. It was a trainwreck on ice. It was a if you pay you get to play kind of thing. Not competitive at all. Most of the "actors" (if you could call them that) were VERY bad and appeared as though they needed lots of training that the Academy wasn't giving them. We went to see Beauty and the Beast this year because one of my daughter's friends was in it. It wasn't much better. It was a lot of the same "actors" who hadn't improved at all. ArtWorks isn't cost effective at all and the children didn't take much from their experiences there. My daughter said that the children weren't pushed to learn their lines. That explains why one of the little girls in High school Musical called for line in the middle of one of the shows.
