The stories that form the backbone of African American history resonate especially strongly after this historic Presidential election. Atlanta families can celebrate, learn more about the past, and ponder ways to make the future brighter at events in and around the city during the month of February.
South Cobb Regional Library hosts the African American Authors Read-In on February 6.
The South Cobb Branch also hosts a morning of African Folktales on February 16.
The Atlanta History Center presents its Fridays in February series, covering a range of topics related to African American history.
Courage of Conviction: The African-American Soldier, features the paintings of Ted Ellis, which depict black soldiers from the Revolutionary War through World War II and can be exclusively seen at Stone Mountain Park's Memorial Hall Museum.
The Black West: Buffalo Soldiers, Black Cowboys is on display at the Booth Western Art Museum this month. The exhibit tells the often overlooked story of blacks in the West through the art of contemporary African American artists.
