10News awarded them Best Martial Arts Gym this year, so I decided to take my kids here insteafd of their old karate school. So far they love it. Classes are pretty expensive, but as they say "you get what you pay for". Karate classes are not on the same league as these newer martial arts gyms. These gyms are more of a personal training experience because the kids are taught in smaller groups. Karate classes are groups of 30, the groups here range from 12-15 kids per class. The end result is my kid has more private time with the instructors and I feel quality of material maneuvers taught is superior than kids karate classes.
No better place to take your kids to learn martial arts. They teach the kids exercise drills to get their hand and eye coordination up. The instructor was a heavyweight UFC champion in the past. With UFC its about mixed martial arts and that's what they teach the kids here. With traditional martial arts like karate or taekwondo, your only learning one martial art. In this gym they teach kids 3 types of different martial arts that can be applied in real life situations. Jiu Jitsu, Boxing, and Muay Thai Kickboxing. I would suggest taking kids here because contact is minimal at the start of the program and than the kids have a choice to start sparring with gear on as they get into middle school age.
I took baby Kate to Black House Martial Arts school a few weeks and she didn't want to go at first, but by the end of the month she was pretty disheartened that it was her last day at martial arts school! My daughter raved about the muay thai kickboxing classes and is playing the sad puppy roll on me to take her back to see her friends. The martial arts instructors are friendly and the kids get a the best workout every day. I'm pretty happy that I chose this martial arts academy as it was a memorable experience for my kids.
My son attends Jerabek Elementary School and majority of the kids go to this gym. Ask for their Jerabek Elementary School discount since their a sponsored facility.
