Founded in 1982 by Barbara Demaree and Wanda Tierney, Boulder Ballet is Boulder County's major professional dance company and school, staging classical ballets performances throughout the year and offering unique outreach workshops to students and classrooms.

The Boulder Ballet School is professional-track ballet school, serving students interested in dance as a career, as well as those wanting to dance for fun. Additional courses are taught in modern dance, character dance, and physical theater.

Boulder Ballet School has the largest dance program for boys in the area, including Boyz Dance, a unique mix of dance, mime and juggling, and Boys Ballet, which focuses specifically on the male classical technique. Kids as young as preschoolers can get in on the fun with creative movement classes that emphasize rhythm, teamwork, and getting to know one's body.
