We could not have been happier with Building Blocks- the teachers are all wonderful and caring and made the transition from being at home so much easier for our daughter. The quality of care and small size is hard to find and we highly recommend it!

Our 2.5 year old loves Building Blocks, and so do we! We feel very lucky to have found such a nurturing and warm place for her. The place is small, which is a good thing. It has a cozy and relaxed atmosphere. I love that I can "peek in" during the day on the webcam, see how she is doing. When doing so I am always impressed by how calm the teachers are and how nicely the children play together. There is a good balance between structured age-appropriate activities and free play. The groups are very small and the ratio of teachers to children is 1:4, better than in any other nursery school that we visited. The teachers are caring, intelligent and experienced. They don't just babysit the kids. They are knowledgable about and sensitive to the various developmental needs - cognitive, emotional, physical - of toddlers and preschoolers. Our daughter has learned a lot since she started going to BB, not only because many of the activities are geared towards learning, but primarily because BB provides an environment that is responsive to her individual needs and abilities. Parent-teacher communication is excellent. On most days, the teacher write in a small notebook how the day went and what they did (providing great talking points for the dinner table!) and they are always available at drop-off and pick-up to talk with the parents. Mandy (the director) is also very accessible, always available on the phone and on email. It was a relief for us to finally find a daycare director with whom we could actually have a conversation. She is professional, has lots of experience, and is attentive to the needs of both children and parents. We feel that Mandy and her staff are true partners in raising our daughter. Highly highly recommended.

Both of our daughters attended BB. Our youngest is about to "graduate" and will join her 2 older siblings at an UES Private School. When my middle child left BB to attend Kindergarten, she was very well prepared for her new school academically and socially. We were quite pleased! Our youngest has also had a wonderful experience: Caring teachers who balance nurturing with appropriate structure; impressive curriculum and learning experiences; age-appropriate academic work and structured and play activities; and impressive opportunities for growth in all areas. We have also appreciated the availability of the Director. She provides her home number, cell number and email and is always available for questions or concerns. This year was difficult for our family due to a family member's illness and I was relieved to be able to reach Mandy (Amanda Ward) whenever needed to update her on my travel plans and how my travel and the events might impact my daughter (so that the teachers could be briefed and responsive to my daughter's needs and emotional processing). We highly recommend Building Blocks to other parents looking for a small and caring program for their children.

Great daycare! A very nice family-like atmosphere, professional and dedicated teachers. Our daughter had a fantastic time this year.
