Camp Ketcha is a year-round non-profit organization serving the southern Maine community with programs in youth development, family enrichment, and summer day camping. Its 133 acres of meadows, forests, streams, and wetlands are essential to its mission - getting children, youth, and families outdoors to appreciate what nature has to offer. Among the special programs offered are:
Horse Birthday Parties: The birthday child chooses from among several riding activities, including trail rides and mounted riding games. Cost: $315 for 2 1/2 hours for up to 12 participants ages 5 and up.
Junior Horsemanship & Camp Ketcha After School Camps: Participants rotate through a four-part curriculum in small groups based on ability and experience level. Teaching areas include English riding, grooming & tacking-up, routine horse care and stable management skills, safety and general horse knowledge (breeds, parts of the horse, colors and markings).
Mommy & Me for Wee Ones Class: A great introductory class to learn about horses together. The shortened, 30 minute class allows you and your child to both participate in a grooming activity and/or a pony ride. Must be scheduled in advance.
Horseback Riding Lessons: Learn about horses and riding from our experienced and knowledgeable staff. $45 per private hour lesson with lead/certified instructor, $40 per private hour with staff member. Recommended age range: 6-18.
