Oxnard's
Channel Islands Harbor is a launching point for exploring the beautiful chain of islands known as Channel Islands National Park. The closest of these islands, Anacapa, is only about a 90-minute boat ride away and can make for a breathtaking day trip from one of the charter companies located in
Channel Islands Harbor (boats are also available from
Ventura Harbor Village).
The channel itself is a sanctuary, host to a huge variety of plants and animals, an abundance of submerged Chumash Native American artifacts, and the remains of more than 100 historic shipwrecks. Kayaks, water taxis, fishing trips, and whale watching voyages can all be found in the harbor.
More than just a row of boat rentals and charter trips, the harbor also offers Marine Emporium Landing, a shopping and restaurant district with views that can't be beat.
Channel Islands Harbor is the site of the annual, free Celebration of the Whales festival.
