We all remember her name; the Debbie Allen Dance Academy is the studio for parents who wish they had gone to that Fame school made so famous by Ms. Allen when they were kids. And there's no question that plenty of students from this academy have achieved and will achieve dancing fame.
DADA provides professional and rigorous training for young dancers in more than a dozen dance forms, as well as artistic development for professional dancers and youth-focused outreach and education initiatives. The studio serves an average of about 500 students at its Culver City location, and another several thousand through its outreach programs.
Once a year, Ms. Allen opens the doors to her studio for a Dance Free Day, offering free classes to hundreds of children. A few lucky participants get offered scholarships to enroll in the program.
Committed students can also participate in the summer intensive, joining student dancers from around the globe.
The Early Birds program is for the littlest dancers and offers a summer camp that requires no previous experience. The recital at the end is always a popular event.
