Great horse camp program for kids!

"Horseback Riding" Day Camp included less than 30 minutes of actual horseback riding time a day and no trail rides during our two-week experience. According to their website camp is limited to six kids, but they also have "drop-in" campers so that number is not guaranteed. Professional staff is not increased to accomodate additional campers. My daughter and her friend shared they "spent more time cleaning stalls than riding horses" and "rode around in a golf cart a lot." We received digital pictures of the kids engaged in craft making and activities, such as three-legged races. In one video, the kids are crawling on their hands and knees on a filthy arena floor pretending to be horses. This arena smelled like a giant cat litter box when we attended the Friday "horse show"... an event that demonstrated how little the kids learned. My husband was so overcome by the ammonia in the air he had to leave the facility and wait for us in the car. The website states: "We follow The American Pony Club curriculum." There's no such thing. The program was unstructured and the second week of camp was very different from the first. The owner's solution for our dissatisfaction was "sign up for private lessons"! As if we were inclined to spend more money following such a disappointing experience! Beware of the slick marketing!
