Once you are safely admitted, the horse show is magical... the lemons with a candy stick, the friendly volunteers, the flashy horses... it is an event like no other. Getting there safely is the problem. Surprisingly, there are no sidewalks around the show grounds or the show parking lots so visitors have to walk in the street... scary! Parking is a nightmare and expensive, so taking the train to the Devon station is best, except that the block between the station and the horseshow is bisected by 4 lanes of cars zooming along Route 30 and... again... limited sidewalks. The show would do well to make itself more pedestrian friendly, especially in order to encourage people to take other transportation besides cars since parking is so limited! Once you're there, the horse show is great... getting there by car or foot, though, is stressful.

I think that the Devon horse show is great for kids who do or don't ride. Watching the jumping competitions is the best part of the show. The shops are great for all ages and the food can be fast food or a nice, sit-down garden meal. They even sell cake, and have a small candy shop. Take your kids to Devon horseshow!

Went to the Devon Horse Show the weekend it opened. It was unseasonably hot which is no fault of the show, but made it uncomfortable since there is no air conditioning to be found on the grounds. It was cheap enough to get in ($15 for one adult and two kids), but then you have to pay for everything except the dressage events once you're inside. The carnival games were $2 each (everybody wins at least a small prize) and the ride tickets were 15 for $20. (As a guide, each ride requires three tickets.) They offered a Ferris wheel, a spinning strawberry ride, and spinning swings tthat were very gentle and good for small kids. The "midway" area with the rides, food vendors, and games is very cramped. If we had brought a stroller, I think I would have been losing my mind trying to get through the crowd. If you go, find out when the equestrian events are happening once you get there. We managed to time our visit so that by the time we were ready to watch the events, NONE were scheduled. Our fault, but disappointing considering it was a HORSE SHOW. We only bought some lemon sticks ($2 each) so I can't really comment on the food. A friend purchased a 10-ounce beer for $4.

The Devon Horse Show is amazing for everyone, especially the horse enthusiast. Even if you aren't an equestrian there is plenty to do. With many shops, horse related and not, a fair, and of course, the whole show, it is an entire day of fun. From being able to go see what happens before they enter the ring, to the amazing food, this place has a thumbs up!
