about Disney's Kim Possible World Showcase Adventure:

For years the World Showcase at Disney's Epcot has been considered the WDW resort's most "grown-up" spot, thanks to its focus on fine dining, shopping, and adult-themed festivals. But the park's Kim Possible World Showcase Adventure has the potential to single-handedly change that deeply-rooted perception.

The interactive Kim Possible attraction, which launched in early 2009, allows visitors to take part in secret agent missions inspired by the Disney Channel's Emmy-winning animated cartoon, Kim Possible, which follows the adventures of a teenage cheerleader who unbeknownst to most thwarts crime-minded super-villains as a super secret agent. (Rest assured you don't have to be a Kim Possible fan to fully experience the attraction!)

The first step to embarking on a Kim Possible adventure is to stop by a Team Possible recruitment center, located in the Innoventions: The Road to Tomorrow building or on the Odyssey Bridge. There you'll swipe your park ticket and receive a ticket (similar to a FastPass) that will name a location in the park and the time you're scheduled to start your mission.

Upon reporting to the appropriate "KP" kiosk, secret agent recruits receive a mission briefing and a Kimmunicator - a hand-held, retooled cell-phone that uses verbal and visual commands to guide guests on what is essentially a high-tech scavenger hunt in one of several countries: Mexico, Norway, China, Germany, Japan, France, and the United Kingdom. Perhaps the best element is that there are multiple adventures in each country - and Disney Imagineers will no doubt continue to change and update them - so event annual passholders who visit frequently can have a unique experience.

During two different visits to the park we experienced several missions and were impressed by the way the attraction has been incorporated into the park. Believe it or not literally thousands of guests walk past key Kim Possible elements every day without ever knowing it, and those in the know will delight in being in on the secret. As for the interactive element: Even our tech-savvy teen - who was wary of participating in an attraction based on a "kids' cartoon" - was wowed by the unexpected effects triggered by the Kimmunicator and became instantly hooked on the attraction. (Sorry! As much as we'd like to share more details about what you'll see and do we're not going to, as we're not about to ruin any of the great surprises participants will encounter.)

Although most adventures can be completed in 30 to 45 minutes, adventure-seekers are able to go at their own pace and can even take breaks during the quest without spoiling the mission.

Disney, in its wisdom, does allow groups to sign out multiple Kimmunicators - thus eliminating any "but I want to push the button!" arguments - but our group of three found it much easier to request three different adventures in three different countries, and then took part in back-to-back-to-back adventures, taking turns with the Kimmunicator.

While guests of any age can participate, it became clear after observing numerous guests - and going on multiple adventures ourselves - that a healthy attention span is required to truly appreciate the attraction. We spotted more than one toddler parent pushing strollers that contained bewildered-looking children clutching Kimmunicators and - trust us - no one in any of these scenarios looked as though they were having much fun. Of course, there's no harm in giving it a try (because even the youngest guests will get a kick out of seeing the animated characters pop up on the Kimmunicator screen) we recommend parents of younger kids seek out Epcot Kidcot stations for a fully interactive experience.

tips:

Experience your first Kim Possible mission early in the day. Chances are you'll find the attraction somewhat addicting and will want to embark on another mission - or two!
