We've also been doing Easy Theater for the last six years. It's been a *fantastic* experience for our son. Engela is a kind and conscientious teacher, making sure that the children in the class learn and grow. My son has learned to love the theater in these classes.
We have been doing Easy Theater for six years straight and love it! We have seen our children grow in leaps and bounds through the wonderful education that Engela Edwards provides through her theatre classes. Each class ends in a performance which is always a very high quality show. Engela is very patient with each child and has a special way of drawing in even the most bashful children. Two of my children have been in the same class as the director's daughter for the past six years and we have always found the director to be fair and conscientious in her teaching and casting. As the previous post says, this isn't a class for the stage parent. This is a class for the child who really wants to learn all aspects of theatre. I would highly recommend Easy Theatre classes to people of all ages!
What a great way to teach children theater! This is not for the Stage Parent. This is for the parents who want their kids to get time on stage. Each class is a production class, ending a semester w/ a performance under their belt. They will gently learn to find their audience, use the props, interact with fellow actors and how to move around the stage and most of all memorize fun and kid friendly shows! They are never stressed out or talked down to. Engel Edwards is a very conscientious teacher, always keeping each child's skills and desires in mind when casting and producing a show. We love Easytheatre. We have been in over 20 productions with this theater troupe and I have personally recommended this to dozens of parents all of which share the joy of this experience with us. We have watched the children grow with each show, and I am amazed at their progress. Like I said this is not a stage parent style class. Kids are not manufactures rather they are nurtured, and learn to love theatre in return. My daughter enjoys watching the other shows as much as performing in her own. If you are seeking social experience this is the place to go. The name says it all Easy Theater.
I disagree with the previous reviewer. We are on our second semester theatre classes with EASY Theatre in Bastrop, directed by the same director as Austin. The director has been patient, encouraging and likes to challenge ALL the kids!
We *love* EASY Theatre. My son has participated in a play every year since he was 6 years old - 5 plays and counting. I appreciate the quality of instruction, the scripts that are chosen, the fairness in casting, and last but not least - affordability. My son loves his directors, friends, and having his chance to shine in the spotlight. Our friends and family in the audience always comment on the high quality of the productions and how much effort all the actors put into every show. If you have a budding little actor, be sure to sign them up. Beginners all the way to advanced actors will find a place with this group.
Disappointed. Thought it was going to be a chance to learn more about acting and theater, however, the director is a parent and the class is more of forum to promote her child and there was no education for the other children. The only reason I gave it two stars is that if your child just wants an opportunity to be on stage, it will provide that, however, if your child is really interested in learning about acting and theater this is not the place to go. I have to admit I was warned, prior to joining, by other parents of the nature of this class and their disappointment, but I did it anyway. Oh well, live and learn.
