El Dustberry Ranch is an equine assisted therapeutic activity center and outdoor classroom. Formerly located in Topanga, the facility brings together rescue horses and the children who can love them. Kids learn basic equestrian skills while letting go of stress and working through programs for autism, ADHD, and depression. Specialized programs for cancer patients are also available.
El Dustberry is a popular spot with homeschoolers and with scout troops, too. In fact, its new location in the Palisades is part of the Boy Scouts' Camp Josepho. Other programs include periodic tea parties and summer camp programs, during which kids spend the day learning to communicate with the farm's rescue horses, building self-esteem and bringing out the best in the horses and the kids. Camp activities include horsemanship and horse whispering, as well as crafts, drama, and music.
