about Farmington Historic Plantation:

The Farmington Historic Plantation is a plantation that grew hemp in the 1800s. The plantation's most famous guest was Abraham Lincoln, a personal friend of John Speed, the land owner.

A permanent exhibit, Lincoln & Farmington: An Enduring Friendship, can be viewed by the public. The exhibit examines the hemp plantation as it was experienced by Lincoln during his three-week visit in 1841. Examined are the relationships Lincoln formed during his stay in Jefferson County, and his first-hand experience with the complex and intimate interracial relationships within the plantation community.

Guided tours are offered on the hour, with the last tour starting at 4pm. The plantation is closed on all major holidays and for some local events; check the website or call for seasonal hours.

Many historical reenactments are offered throughout the year; see the website for details. The plantation also hosts a plant sale in April, a harvest festival in October, and Home for the Holidays, an old-fashioned Christmas celebration.
