about Free LA Presidents Day Events for Families (2009):

Presidents Day is a great opportunity to take some time out and teach our kids a little about our country, our history, and our government - but since doing so often means taking a day off from our job, it sure helps to find activities we can do for free!

Partisan politics and decades-old scandals aside, the Richard Nixon Presidential Library and Museum is certainly an appropriate place to spend the day. The museum makes it an even better idea by offering free admission all day, and a talk by President Nixon's younger brother sharing tales from their childhood.

California's other presidential library also offers free activities to celebrate the day. The Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum invites the public to enjoy discovery areas, crafts, scavenger hunts, and several appearances by presidential and first lady look-alikes.

Another famous Republican president puts in a posthumous appearance at the Agoura Hills Library's free Evening with President Lincoln on February 24.

LACMA hosts one of it Free Target Holiday Monday events to keep the day culturally focused. More events to mark the day can be found on our calendar.
