Free LA Valentine's Day Events for Families (2009)050

LA is wearing its heart on its sleeve all over town this month. Family Valentine's Day events abound, including those of the free variety.
American Girl Place at The Grove invites kids for Pocket Valentine Card Craft (which is free as long as Mom and Dad can be strong in the face of endless doll accessories). The Grove's Barnes & Noble has free Valentine's stories, and the branch at Glendale's Americana invites families for a Valentine's Day Party; Vroman's in Pasadena offers Valentine's Day crafts and stories, too.
The Central Library presents sweet stories, songs, and a puppet show downtown, while Santa Monica Library offers its own Heart Full of Laughter Valentine's Puppet Show at the Ocean Park branch. The Hollywood branch library has a story hour to mark the day, and the Mid-Valley regional branch is planning a big art project and storytime.
Dragonfly Dulou hosts the kids' band Egg for a free holiday concert; the band then heads across town to play at the Giggles 'n' Hugs Valentine's Day Party in the evening. No doubt some of the families in the audience will have just come from the free all-day party at JennyBec's on Montana.
Not free, but still a good deal is the Valentine's card bar open daily at Scribble Press through the 14th.
