George Izay Park is recognizable to locals as the one with the mounted Air Force jet at the entrance. The park is popular for its softball fields, picnic grounds, tennis courts, handball courts, and playground. The latter is a particularly good one, with a rubberized play surface. The Olive Recreation Center housed in the park (818.238.5385) has plenty of kids' programs.

Another facility in the park is the Burbank Little Theater also known as the Grove Theater (818.238.9998), which specializes in family entertainment. Tickets for these productions are usually about $10 to $15.

Also in the park, the Burbank Historical Society's Gordon R. Howard Museum and the historic Mentzer house (dating back to 1887) are open to the public Saturdays and Sundays from 1pm to 4pm, free of charge.
