The National Park Service operates a visitors center just off the Independence Square for the Harry S Truman National Historic Site. The free visitor's center includes a gift shop, a short film on President Truman's life in Independence, and is the place to purchase tickets for the Truman Home guided tour.
A junior ranger program also is available for kids ages five through 12. After completing the booklets, kids are sworn in and given a junior ranger pin.
