Part of the Heritage Square Amusement Complex, the Alpine Slide was developed during the 1970s and boasts that it is only one of two alpine slides outside a ski resort in North America.

Alpine sliders take a peaceful chairlift ride to the top of the mountain, where two half-mile tracks await. Simple "sleds" with break and acceleration capability allow the rider to control speed during the entire ride. One track is designed for advanced riders who enjoy a little more speed; the other track is labeled for beginner and intermediate riders, thereby allowing a slower pace.

Children ages six and under can ride with an adult but not by themselves. Because speed can be controlled, it's a fun ride for almost all ages. Views from the top of the mountain are quite good, and visitors can purchase snacks and drinks inside the ticket building.
