about Hershey Highmeadow Campground:

Hershey Highmeadow Campground - located just 1.5 miles from the entrances of Hersheypark, GIANT Center, Hershey's Chocolate World, Hershey Trolley Works, and Hershey Gardens - provides an ideal location for outdoorsy families visiting the Hershey area.

The campground offers more than 300 open and shaded campsites - including tent sites, RV hookups, and cabins - a game room, free showers, a camp store, and self-service laundry. The facility is open year-round but, due to cold weather, water at the campsites is normally turned off November 1.

During the summer, guests of the campground can enjoy organized children's activities, two outdoor swimming pools, a kiddie wading pool, early access to select rides at Hersheypark, and free shuttle service that runs directly from the campground to the entrances of Hershey's Chocolate World and Hersheypark. Shuttle buses depart every 20-30 minutes beginning one hour before Hersheypark opens until an hour after the park closes.

The campground staff at Hershey Highmeadow Campground is friendly and the grounds are very clean. Be advised, however, that shuttle buses coming and going throughout the day during the summer - from early in the morning until late at night - can be somewhat loud. Those with noise sensitivities should also note that trains pass at all hours on nearby tracks. Hershey Highmeadow sells discounted admission tickets to Hersheypark and the nearby Dutch Wonderland Family Entertainment Complex. Guests of Hershey Highmeadow Campground receive complimentary general admission to Hershey Gardens and The Hershey Story: The Museum on Chocolate Avenue; tickets are required and available at front desk at the camp store.

tips:

There are many paved roadways throughout the campground, so be sure to bring along kids' bikes and/or scooters! Campground guests receive complimentary general admission to Hershey Gardens and The Hershey Story: The Museum on Chocolate Avenue! If you visit during the summer, plan on taking the (air conditioned!) shuttle to Hersheypark - it's comfortable, reliable, and eliminates all traffic and parking hassles.

getting there:

From Philadelphia: Take the Schuylkill Expressway (I-76) West to the Pennsylvania Turnpike (I-76). Take the Pennsylvania Turnpike (I-76) West to exit 266; turn left onto 72 North. Follow 72 North to 322 West, and then take 322 West into Hershey (approximately 12 miles). Stay straight as Route 322 becomes Hersheypark Drive and Route 39 West; go through one traffic light. The entrance to the Campground is on the left.
