Located just 15 miles south of Nashville, the entire 15-block area of Historic Downtown Franklin is on the National Register of Historic Places. The area is also the recipient of both a Great American Main Street Award from the National Trust for Historic Preservation and a Preserve America award.
More than 70 unique shopping and dining establishments attract visitors from around Nashville. Downtown Franklin also hosts numerous street festivals throughout the year including Feile Franklin to celebrate St. Patrick's Day, Pumpkinfest the Saturday before Halloween, and December's Dickens of a Christmas.
The roundabout at Main Street and Third Avenue features a Civil War tribute to the soldiers who fought and died during the Battle of Franklin.
