Birmingham gets into the holiday spirit in a big way, and we've got a list of Christmas, Hanukkah, and Kwanzaa kids' events and activities happening throughout the area including free family events and activities such as tree lightings. The Alabama Theatre hosts a holiday film series in December featuring flicks like White Christmas, Elf, and more.

The Birmingham Zoo hosts ZooLight Safari with synchronized lights blinking to favorite holiday tunes, a holiday train ride, the carousel, story time, animal demos, hayrides, a Children's Zoo barn, and a nightly snowfall.

The McWane Science Center celebrates the season with a Polar Express Pajama Party with a screening of the fave holiday film, hot chocolate, cookies, and a visit with Santa. Make sure to bring your own camera for photographs with Santa, and wear pajamas!

Go on a winter solstice hike at Ruffner Mountain to Hawk's View Overlook for some light refreshments.
