Karate Institute of Mentor owners Dennis and Mercedes Janes have taught Karate since 1979. Today, the institute they founded also offers Tai Chi and other martial arts programs for all ages, from beginning family classes through individual instruction for black-belt pros.

And talk about a new twist on cutting the cake: Karate birthday parties are a popular offering here. Advance reservations may be hard to come by; it's a busy place. Call well in advance to arrange.
