Lutz Children's Museum is a former schoolhouse. Gallery halls were once classrooms, and the school auditorium is now used for classes, parties, concerts, and special events. Ongoing exhibits at the museum include the Long Isalnd Sound exhibit, brings the sights and sounds of the ocean closer to home and includes a fishing vessel and a research submarine; a farm exhibit, where kids can milk a (fake) cow, collect eggs from the hens, and climb up into a hay loft; live animals; and an art gallery. Birthday parties can be held at the museum, too. These include a special storytime and a meet and greet with a live animal. Call for more information or to schedule a date. Family membership is $50/year.
