We signed our twin 4 years olds up for a month long art class with this description "This fun hands-on arts and craft design class create with a variety of materials. Class projects include work with clay, mosaics, masks, mixed media, recycled art, seasonal crafts and a variety of drawing and paint projects." When we got there the kids (4 total) were given construction paper, scissors and glue and told to make an owl based on what the teacher showed them. She offered no help and did not stand up from her chair once. Surprisingly the kids did great with little assistance and made some cute owls. That took very little time, then she had them randomly color on white paper for about 40 minutes. In the last 10 minutes of class she asked the kids to color a jack-o-latern on orange paper. that's it. A big circle and some eyes and a mouth. Then she kept pestering the kids to leave their work there so she could display it. She also had her daughter and some older kids in the same room and chatted with them more than her "students". And should I mention this was the owner that was the "teacher". We were extremely disappointed with the lack of instruction and total disregard for her students. I was so upset that we purchased this as a birthday gift for my boys. At one point one of my boys looked at me and asked what we were doing there b/c he had gotten completely bored with coloring randomly on white paper. I was really hoping for some art instruction that I couldn't provide at home. My husband called to see if we could get a refund on the remaining classes and she said sure, but it wouldn't hit our credit card until the end of the month. That's fine. Well it never came! He called again and the story this time was that they can't refund on a credit card so she would mail us a check. We took the class in October and it is middle of February now. Still have not seen a refund. Would not recommend this place to anyone. She will continue to hear from us until our money is refunded.
This is the best thing to happen to my hometown in a long time. They have a great dance program and my daughter is also trying the theater classes. I am very impressed with the work the teachers, staff and parents are doing. Their heart is definitely in the right place. Classes are affordable and the instruction is amazing. I can tell my daughter is going to progress here now that she has a teacher who can not only tell her how to do something but show her, too. Three cheers for the MAP! I will be telling everyone how much I love this place!
