This school is a farce. Only one teacher in the school is certified. Enrollment drops by 1/3 every year as families get burned out and tired of getting ripped off. Few students remain for next year, and the best teachers in the school aren't returning. School finances, materials, leadership and staffing are disintegrating. Teachers are paid sub-poverty wages without health care while the head of school continues to collect her comfortable salary and benefits. The educational program that is professed to be the unique aspect of the school has no integrity. The head of school changes the program on a whim or based on money, not on what is best for the students. Student assessments are inconsistently applied and never updated to reflect modern educational standards. There is no strategy for improving any of the serious problems. New families who are looking into schools should be very cautious about enrolling their children at New Morning School. It won't be around for long, and your experience there could be very detrimental. Many area families have been through the wringer with this school so ask around town until you find someone who can give you the real story.

Excellent preschool program with highly involved parents. Co-op requirements can be intense but parental involvement makes the school a true community, not just a place to drop the kids for a couple hours. Really amazing, professional preschool teachers. Everyone at NMS seems happy and committed to the education and overall well-being of the children. Class sizes are small and each class has a head teacher, a head aide, and parents aides, so the daily adult:child ratio is outstanding.
