One time we all got to the lesson and Dana was 30 minutes late. So when she finally got there, she was mad that we didn't call her. Like reallyyyy mad. So at the next lesson she was late again, so like she TOLD US TO DO we called her and she was furious that we called her. She said it worried her and she thought something was wrong. What a great trainer.

Oak Creek Equestrian Center/Oak Creek Stables is a wonderful program run by wonderful instructors. It's a caring environment for both the kids and the horses. My daughter started with a 8 week try it program about 3 years ago and loved it. She's now on the International Equestrian Team learning a lot and enjoying her team mates and competing. Dana is an excellent instructor and cares very much about the girls, horses and the barn facilities.

This barn is AWESOME! We absolutely LOVE it. My daughter moved to this barn about 8 months ago and joined team. She has improved tremendously and adores the trainers. She wants to spend all her time at the barn where it is a fun, encouraging and team oriented environment. I can't say enough about the place. Dana is always available and very caring. She enjoys the girls so much and it definitely shows. My daughter has been riding for about 8 years and we have been at a number of barns and I can tell you that this is the most consistent, progressive and instructional one yet. I say, come judge for yourself and you will not be disappointed!

If you are looking for a barn or riding stables then this is the one you have to choose. After riding for 7 years in so many different disciplines I can't count, Oak Creek Stables transitioned me to Equitation riding in no time for filling me with confidence and constructive feedback on how to improve. I am part of the IEA riding team and feel that even though I am fairly new I am very much part of the cogs already. I help the lessons kids and know many of there names and see them on a weekly basis watching them progress into jumping. I feel that this little suburban stable is a diamond in the rough helping and including everyone. As for inexperienced instructors. WE DON'T HAVE ANY! Katy and Christy are very much part of the team and relate and help everyone greatly. Next time you think about insulting our instructors please come and spend a day in their shoes. Many of them work 6 days a week and rarely finish before 8pm. As for the horses, they are amazing and have given me so much confidence and I have a lot of little friends that agree with me. This stable is a lot better than many I have ridden at. And as I world traveller who has been and lived in many places, my voice must count for something. Wow - How awful to see nasty reviews about this wonderful barn and kind-hearted professional trainer! I almost never post reviews but felt it necessary to counter the few negative reviews on this post. Readers, be aware that not all barns and trainers are for all people and take that into account. Oak Creek Equestrian Center is not for you if you a negative person and want some cheap lessons from any ole trainer. However, if you want your child in a well-run program with a highly professional trainer who sincerely cares about all of the students and horses then this is the barn for you! I've been involved with many trainers and barns around the Atlanta area for many, many years and can't say enough about this environment and trainer. Your child will be taught excellent horsemanship, hunter riding skills in a happy, safe environment. Isn't that the bottomine of what you're looking for? Dana Karen loves her students, horses, and shows nothing but professionalism at all times. Don't listen to any negativity from sour grapes on this website...go meet Dana, her horses, her riders and their parents and you'll understand what I mean immediately. This is definitely the place to let your child ride, learn, grow, and be nurtured at the same time. Thank goodness we found Oak Creek Equestrian Center - we couldn't possibly be happier with this barn and trainer!

My daughter has rode with Dana for over 6 years now and has been on the team for 4 years. We have had a wonderful experience at Oak Creek. Dana has been kind and willing to work with us around any concerns we have with my daughters riding. She had a slow start and Dana was patient with her. Now she is now in a high level of IEA competitions. She has has different trainers from time to time all due to changes of her riding level or in our own schedule. Dana has always been willing to work with us in anything. I feel Oak Creek is staffed to accommodate all levels of riders from beginner to advanced riders.
I feel the horses are well cared for and safety is a priority. I have never seen riders on a horse that is not appropriate for the riders ability.
One personal thing for me that was enlightening for me was a few years ago I asked Dana--"why can't you give my daughter a horse easier to ride (the horse was difficult to get going). She answered --" If she can get him (that horse) to go she can get any horse to go." I thought --well that is true !! She does try to get the kids to work at it. So I think many parents feel they know what is better for their kid and are not seeing the big picture--all it takes to become a great all around rider.

My daughter joined this stable in August when we moved from Hong Kong. We were made to feel welcome in the first week when we were invited to a pool party.

My daughter has been riding for many years and we chose the option of her having one formal lesson a week and two practice rides. The formal lessons have never ended on time, because Dana wants the girls to develop their skills.

There is a strong community amongst the girls and they all seem very happy to muck in (something which isn't necessarily seen, for example, in cleaning their own rooms).

In my view, a couple of the reviews above are mean spirited and inaccurate. Dana is a conscientious and caring coach. There is also no way that Dana or any of the girls would allow horses to be mistreated. I suspect these reviews may be written by a competitor

Our daughter loves Oak Creek. she rides with the barn
's IEA team and has lessons and practice sessions 3 times a week. As parents we particularly like the fact that your child can ride so much and compete in shows at local, regional and maybe even national level without having the responsibility of owning a horse. Our daughter spends hours at the barn, she enjoys the time she spends with the horses, her friends and the people who work there. And it's so convenient, avoiding having to drive out further .

I made an account on this website just to warn mothers not to let their kids ride here. The trainer is mean and insane and only cares about her boarders or whoever is giving her the most money. You will learn little and waste a lot of money and patience. Most of the people I rode with left because it was so bad.

A great barn for the once a week lesson kid who only rides for fun. but any rider with any goal to become a better rider and be the best they can be STAY AWAY. Stables offers little instruction. Instruction that is given comes from young "trainers" who have never received training themselves. Head "trainer"/barn manager knows little knowledge about riding and equation and only a small amout about general horse care. Horses are mistreated regularly . Dana also lacks much needed social skills and has a tneconcy to regularly go off on students screaming and yelling. this tends to be an almost daily thing.For in child interested in showing or competing continue looking else where. But for the young one is wanting to ride away with little regard to horsemanship, training, or safety its a conveniently locked cheap barn.

Great for beginners but once your child is doing 2ft or offered to lease get out quick. Management is awful and unpredictable. Head trainer Dana has little knowledge in advanced training and equitation. Dana is short tempered and takes her anger out on her students and their parents. As a rider I like many others had to leave because Dana was not good enough to teach me anymore and I could not keep living with the emotional abuse I was given by my trainer. Great for beginners but not for the even simi-advanced rider but don't get to involved with the bane or trainer.

I ride at Oak Creek and I think it's the best stable ever! Ms. Dana and Ms. Rachel are sooooo nice. They teach you everything you need to know.

This stable is amazing! I ride there and work there and everything is perfect. The instructors are kind and motivating and are sure to bring you to the Top. Parties are also a blast for younger kids they all seem to have so much fun! The camps also give you a taste of horsemanship and fun. The horses are as sweet as can be and you will have an amaing experience there.
