about The Old Mint:

The San Francisco Mint (a branch of the United States Mint) was opened in 1854. The building, also known as "The Old Mint" or "The Granite Lady," is one of the few that survived the 1906 earthquake. The building is no longer a working mint, but is used for events and is open for tours.
