about Oregon Ridge Park:

Oregon Ridge Park is a 1,043-acre park featuring an accessible playground, a posted fitness area, a three-hole par-three golf course, horse shoe pits, seasonal swimming and sledding, miles of trails for nature walks and hikes (no bicycles are permitted on the trails), and a nature center, which houses an exhibit hall, a living classroom containing native animals, a non-lending nature library, an auditorium for school visitations and other audio-visual presentations, various nature observation areas, and a staff working area. The nature center, which is open Tue-Sun 9am-5pm, also offers year-round activities for the entire family.

The beach at Oregon Ridge was originally excavated for iron ore in the 1800s, and the former quarry is now filled with spring fed water. The beach operates Memorial Day weekend and subsequent weekends until school is dismissed for the summer, then daily through Labor Day; Mon-Fri 10am-6pm and Sat-Sun 10am-8pm. The quarry has designated shallow and deep swim areas and is staffed with independently certified lifeguards. The beach is open to the public for a nominal fee and season passes are available for individuals or families. Two areas are available for rental: a small pavilion that seats 50 (no electricity) and a picnic grove that seats 150. Both have picnic tables and a grill, are set in tree-filled areas, and are within sight of the swimming area. Additional facility features include: a newly renovated bath house, concession stand, unreservable picnic tables and grills, playground and sand volleyball court.
