The Polk Museum of Art's permanent collection includes artistic objects that fit into one of several collection areas, including modern and contemporary art, Asian art, European and American decorative arts, Pre-Colombian art, and African art.
The museum - winner of our 2009 Parents' Picks award for best local art class - has a sculpture garden and eight galleries, including the George Jenkins Student Gallery, where six times a year, exhibitions of artwork created by Polk County students in elementary through high school are displayed. One piece from each exhibition is purchased by the museum and added to the museum's student collection.
