My son, Stephen, and his class, Ms. Imperiale K104 PS 39,had a class trip to Red Hook Farms. It was fabulous thanks to Farmers Cara and Zach. It was all about the kids, speaking with them and their ideas and explaining to them about compositing, how it is made and how it is used. Farmer Zach had all the children work in groups to make compost piles. Later Farmer Cara explained about seeds and how they grow and had the children make plants that they could take home with them. It was the best class trip I've ever been on for Kindergartners.
