Reinstein Woods Nature Preserve is a unique 292-acre complex of forests, ponds, and wetlands, surrounded by suburban development. Many species of wildlife native to western New York State, including white-tailed deer, beavers, waterfowl, red-tailed hawks, pileated woodpeckers, and majestic great blue herons, live in or visit Reinstein Woods and thrive under its protection.
An earth-friendly Environmental Education Center offers visitors of all ages a variety of opportunities to explore and learn about nature. In addition to free guided tours of the woods, the Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) offers special programs including snowshoe and ski adventures, walks on seasonal topics, and a fall nature festival.
Guided nature walks, which last about 90 minutes, are conducted on Saturdays at 10am and are held rain, snow, or shine; participants are advised to dress appropriately for the weather.
