Looking for a cheap island getaway?
Rumbi Island Grill may not satisfy your wanderlust, but it serves up some really
tasty barbecue, burgers, rice bowls, and salads with a tropical twist. Families who have dined at
Pei Wei Asian Diner might experience a moment of deja vu, as the restaurant is set up in much the same fashion: guests peruse a large wall-mounted menu, then proceed on to the ordering station, where they pay for their selections and receive drink cups and a number to place on their table. The decor is Polynesian-kitsch, very
comfortable and laid-back - perfect for families with kids. High chairs are available. The food arrives quickly - and it's good! The
Luau Pork Sandwich ($7.49) features moist pulled Kalua pork mounded on a freshly baked bun with mayo and Asian slaw (a side of tangy barbecue sauce adds just the right zip). Rumbi fries, a mixture of sweet potato and regular french fries, were hot and yummy. We also sampled a rice bowl - a large portion of selected rice and meat, combined with colorful veggies and flavored with Hawaiian teriyaki, Jamaican jerk, or Bali Island glaze.
Organic tofu and veggies-only options are also available. Prices range from $7.49-$8.99 for half- and full-size portions.
Little kahunas ages 12 and under can select a burger, teriyaki bowl, or mac & cheese for $3.99. A small refillable drink is included.
Rumbi Island Grill also offers take-out and catering services.
