The Shawnee Indian Mission historic site tells the story of boys and girls from the Shawnee, Delaware, and other Indian nations who lived at the mission and learned basic academics, manual arts, and agriculture from 1839 to 1862. The site is a National Historic Landmark and includes three large brick building - two of which are open to the public and feature exhibits and artifacts.
