Special Olympics is an international nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering people with intellectual disabilities to become physically fit, productive, and respected members of society through sports training and competition. Children and adults with intellectual disabilities can participate in year-round training, and compete in 30 Olympic-type summer and winter sports. Special Olympics Philadelphia offers free athletic training in 11 sports across the city for individuals over the age of six with intellectual disabilities.
