I have been to Stacey's many many times. I too have run into not so great young staff there that seemed kind of apathetic at times. But I did get served pretty promptly with great coffee and got to sit in a nice comfy couch while my kids played in the play area in the back. I heard that there is a new owner, and they are going to possibly change? I like Stacey's, think its got lots to offer and love that its local. I hope that they will be making some good improvements to really bring people back in.
I live in the community and wanted to support local businesses. I've gone few times in the evening for tea and it was fine. However, I went today to get icecream with my daughter (Saturday afternoon, 6/7) and the experience was bad enough to never go back there again. First, the girl behind the counter was pouty and reluctant to come over and help us, even though we were the only ones there (except a guy talking to himself at one of the tables). I got my daughter a child size, which was about a half scoop, or a little less, which was surprising - I thought it was small even for a kid's size, but still that was okay. I then ordered a regular size and she put even less on the cone - not even a mound, I don't know how to describe it - I actually handed it back and asked for a full scoop (I've NEVER done that anywhere!) - she sarcastically put the tiniest smidge more, so I decided to drop it and just pay and get out of there. There was a lot of eye-rolling between her and the other girl, and I actually had to ask her to wait until I was out of the store before she started complaining about me. As a generally nice, non-confrontational person, this was an unusual experience for me, and one I wouldn't like to repeat. My feeling is if the owner trains people so poorly and pays so poorly that she can only get surly teenage staff, she deserves to go out of business. I'll be taking my daughter to Baskin Robbins in the future, where the experience is more reliable, until a better local business takes its place.
