Facilities at the Stead Park Recreation Center include two playgrounds, a lighted basketball court, a multi-use playing field, picnic areas, and an indoor recreation center that offers basketball and other youth programs. The playgrounds recently underwent a much appreciated and very successful renovation and now feature an Americans with Disabilities Act accessible main entrance, a central plaza with seating and an artificial turf play area, a central shade structure, and one playground for children ages two to five and one for children ages six to 12 - both with rubber safety surfaces and climbing walls in additions to slides, swings, and other standard equipment.

The park gets a lot of help from the Friends of Stead Park, a volunteer organization of neighborhood residents who work to make Stead Park a safer, more attractive and engaging place to draw members of the community together by sponsoring events and programs and by funding capital improvements at Stead Park.
