about The Big Backyard:

The Big Backyard is an indoor playground and birthday party center that provides a fun, clean, and safe place for children in which to play, celebrate special events, and learn through enrichment opportunities.

The facility consists of more than 10,000 square feet of warehouse space converted into multiple play areas for children, including those designed to meet the developmental abilities of pre-walkers, toddlers, and preschool/school-aged children.

Equipment includes an wooden play set with slides, tunnels, rock wall, and a clubhouse; a toddler play set, a wooden playhouse, an area for infant soft play with sit-on, climbing, and roll toys; riding toys; and plenty of balls, in all shapes and sizes, along with basketball hoops. Classes at The Big Backyard range from art programs (ages three and up) to "sing-along, play-along" music classes for infants to preschoolers, and their adult companions. Also available: infant sign language classes and Spanish classes, for kids ages 1-1/2 to 10-1/2.

The Big Backyard also features a snack area with a variety of healthy food choices for adults and children.

BBY prides themselves on having "safe equipment". So not the case, BEWARE of splinters!!!!! Their "sock only rule" is ridiculous. If they know children will be running up and down a wooden playset they should be more aware of the safety of their equipment. If children were allowed to wear their shoes. My family wouldn't have gone through what we went through. They take no responsibility after a child has been severely injured at their facility.

My kids have a blast at the Big Backyard - we are regular customers and appreciate the value and the friendly staff. We've held two parties and have had no issues with any of their policies - the staff has been very helpful and clear on their policies. Check it out - great place to play!

Be VERY careful when booking a party there. You are only allowed 15 children or you have to pay a total of $250. We had one extra child and they charged us $90 more because they said we broke the policy. My daughter had a great time at her party and so did her friends. The party hostess was very friendly and helpful but the owners were not very understanding. For being a kid friendly place they were not very understanding that we had one extra kid at our party. They also didn't smile or show any warmth or enthusiasm. On a positive note it was very clean and so was the bathroom. However, I don't think I would book a party there again.

Fun entertainment for kids. However, while checking in, woman taking money casually asked me how old my daughter was (I now know she was trying to be sneaky to make sure she could suck the $5 out of me for her admission too). When I told her she had just turned 1 two days ago and wasn't even walking yet, she gave me the "that's too bad" line. Hmm, better off to lie about your kids age???? They claim to offer "healthy snacks." Fruit snacks and granola bars filled with sugar and artificial ingredients aren't my idea of healthy. And the fact that you can't even bring in a bag of apples is quite disappointing. One of the moms running the joint left her kid running around by herself. No one paid attention to her until she sat on the ground crying loudly for five minutes because she had fallen off a slide. Finally, some stranger went over and picked her up.

I know that the kids will be safe and have FUN... a guaranteed nap for the day is sure to follow. They love the variety of things to climb on, slide down and crawl through. I love it, too!

Be careful if you book a party. The number of people allowed in the room is very restrictive. I booked a Saturday afternoon party and realized by the next day how rude I would feel telling parents that siblings are not allowed (even if I or they are willing to pay) and that some parents of the 4 year old guests will have to wait in the lobby area for 45 minutes while their children are in the party room. Only 5 extra people (presumably adults) are allowed beyond the 15 kids. In less than 24 hours, I called to cancel so I could have more time to think about how to make this work without being rude to the invitees. I will not get the $50 back. I doubt they have denied another party request during this time slot since yesterday. I'm not even sure I want to have the party there anymore based on this lack of consideration. Don't we all make mistakes and aren't people usually understanding? This is very frustrating. Just be careful is you plan to have a birthday party at The Big Backyard. Work it all out before reserving. Good luck.

This place is unique in this day and age. Children engage in creative play in a safe environment with simple snacks that can be purchased at a reasonable price. By keeping the age limit to eight and below the play is kept simple and yet energetic children can ride the self propelled bikes, throw a ball, be a pirate, slide to a new island and whatever else their hearts desire. Ideal for the 4-6 age group, but the play area has a soft area for the young toddlers as well. Parents will have to watch their children and help create a positive citizenship/social skills while the children engage in play.
