The Charles River flows 80 miles from Hopkinton to Boston Harbor. It is one of the busiest recreational rivers in the world. The lower Charles is home to boat houses, Community Boating, the Hatch Shell, sports fields, the Esplanade playground and many other facilities used by hundreds of thousands of city dwellers each year.
