If the idea of a completely - and we mean COMPLETELY custom burger - sounds appealing, we've found the right spot to hit your family's spot.

The Counter offers several choices of burgers, in three sizes: beef, turkey, grilled chicken, and an out-of-this-world veggie version (made from corn, beans, cranberries, and mushrooms, held together with panko breadcrumbs), and often a seafood-themed option. The protein of choice comes on one of three buns, or in a bowl sans extra carbs. And then, there are more decisions to make...

Nearly a dozen cheeses, about 30 toppings (four are included at the regular price), and a mouthwatering array of sauces can be combined in any number of ways. Check off selections on your build-your-own burger sheet to give to your waiter. Our tip: Keep one handy to note your favorites once the food arrives, and keep it for next time!

Hand-dipped milkshakes make the perfect accompaniment, or dessert, and monthly specials keep the offerings fresh. Indecisive? The Counter has you covered. You can opt for one of the popular burger versions on the regular menu, with all the choices made to please. And if choosing your side looks like a daunting task, you can go 50/50, by having half a portion of two of the following: the restaurant's excellent french fries, the sturdy sweet potato version, or the thin and crispy onion straws. All are served (of course) with three dipping sauces.

The Counter has an ample selection of beer and wine, and a kids' menu is available, offering mini cheeseburgers, grilled cheese, PB&J, ham and cheese.

Portions are sizable and the flavors are outstanding. With even the vegetarians and picky eaters in our group satisfied, we'll be bellying up to The Counter again.
