In 1994, Congress transformed the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday into a national day of community service to further commemorate a man who lived his life in service to others. As a tribute to that legacy, President-elect Obama and Vice President-elect Biden launched a national organizing effort to engage Americans in service.

The online resource, USAService.org, provides visitors with the tools and resources needed to take action in their communities by signing up to host or attend service events on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day (or the weekend before).
