The not-for-profit
Utah Animal Adoption Center (formerly known as Wasatch Humane) is Utah's oldest and largest
no-kill rescue organization. It houses and finds foster homes for orphaned or rescued dogs, cats, and horses while the animals await adoption.
Families who are looking to open their hearts and homes to a furry friend can stop by the Adoption Center to meet many of the animals, or browse the
Petfinder database to see who is up for adoption.
A large variety of
volunteer opportunities can be found on center's website. Volunteers working directly with the animals must be at least 16 years old or must be accompanied by a parent. Younger children are invited to help the organization in other ways, such as holding fund-raisers, food collection drives, or supply drives, or by making items like cat quilts or cat toys for the center's animals. Call ahead before dropping off donations so the center can arrange to have someone available to receive the donation and take you on a tour of the facilities. Families can also choose to
foster dogs and cats, keeping the animal in their home and bringing it to scheduled adoption days. Visit the website to find out more about available volunteer opportunities.
