about Kids' Valentine's Day Activities in Las Vegas 2009:

Sweethearts of all kinds - romantic, platonic, and familial - are celebrated on February 14, and in the weeks ahead, numerous venues have scheduled plenty of events for kids to get into the lovey-dove, crafty, pink-and-red spirit. Plan ahead: Many of these events require at least one week's advance registration.

On February 7, dads get the opportunity to sweep their daughters off their feet during the Daddy-Daughter Valentine's Day Dance at Henderson's Black Mountain Rec Center. The center gets festive once again on February 13 when it hosts the Valentine's Day Celebration, featuring a DJ, dancing, prizes, and photographs.

Johnson Community School offers a unique spin on a holiday craft on February 10: Valentine Origami Towel Bunnies. The school also hosts a Scrumptious Valentine workshop on February 12 during which kids get to use chocolates and cookies as their holiday materials.

Eats and treats are offered at Lied Community School's Valentine Lunch Party on the 13th, a day that also offers the opportunity for kids to get crafty with Abrakadoodle at the Henderson Multigenerational Center, as well as the Sweetheart Craft workshop at Doolittle Community Center.

Grown-ups can head out for a little holiday celebration of their own while kids gather for Valentine's Night Out
at Valley View Recreation Center.

Paradise Recreation Center celebrates dads, daughters, and the holiday with its annual Father/Daughter Dance on February 13.

On Valentine's Day itself, the Las Vegas Springs Preserve invites families to use sustainable materials and create to their hearts' content during the Eco-Art: Valentine's Day workshop.

The Carl Grove Combo provides great musical entertainment at the St. Valentine's Day Dance at the Charleston Heights Art Center.

And finally, who doesn't love Ian Falconer's girly storybook character, Olivia? The little piglet who loves the color red is the star of Olivia's Valentine's Day Party at Henderson's Gibson Library.
