Inside the Tremont house best known as the home of Ralphie, Randy, The Old Man, and Mrs. Parker, visitors may think they've entered a time machine set for the 1940s. They may also feel as if they're "on location," since they are, in fact, on location: The movie A Christmas Story was filmed in the house in the early 1980s.
Visitors can tour the house (the shed where Ralphie nearly shot his eye out is out back) and the museum, located directly across the street, which features more than 100 behind-the-scenes photos and items donated by actors in the movie, including Randy's "I can't put my arms down" snowsuit.
The gift shop stocks movie-related items including leg lamps (wouldn't your dad love one?), decoder pins, and Lifebuoy Soap.
The house was chosen as the movie set because of its location - a period-authentic residential neighborhood - and because it doesn't look much different from any other house on the street. But don't worry, it's easily identified by leg lamp glowing in the front window.
