Aaron is a private K-12 special education school whose mission is to educate children in a meaningful learning environment so they can maximize their potential and become confident, successful citizens of their school and community. Aaron serves children with language, learning, attention and social challenges.
The six-week summer instructional program, Camp Green Tree, has been designed to meet the needs of our special education population. It begins in early July and ends in mid-August for Aaron School K-5th grade students and new incoming Aaron students. While the focus is on maintaining and augmenting educational and social skills learned during the academic year, the atmosphere and activities of the summer program are more relaxed. Students participate in swimming lessons, weekly field trips, and special activities focusing on a concrete, curricular theme. Speech and language pathologists provide social skills instruction incorporating drama and role-playing. In addition, Speech, Occupational Therapy and Counseling services are provided during summer at the same level as the school year. Students are placed in cohesive groups for reading and math lessons, which are designed to support and review previously learned academic skills.
