Adventure Day Camps4515

I will NOT be sending my kids back here. They complain every day that the camp is "so boring." They do the same things everyday and the staff does not utilize all that the camp has to offer. It's a good idea but horribly executed. They come home burnt and depressed. Everyday they complain that they don't want to go back to camp. They complain that it's not fun and the staff that holds higher positions are rude to them. It is a CAMP. If nothing else it should be fun, they don't need to be getting yelled at. The counselors don't explain rules until they are yelling and embarrassing kids.

My son now 12. has been going for at least 6 years now.
He still loves it. He's had the ability to grow up as a kid playing out doors & enjoying as well as learning about Lake Grapevine.
Jennifer & Travis have really done a wonderful job. He's looking forward to being a counselor when he is old enough. Always recomend this camp to fellow parents I know who are wondering what to do with their children during summer!

My daughter has been going to this camp for six years,& loved every minute of it. She has always love to be outside and this camp is her favorite (by far). She has meet many new friends and the counselors are great! They keep them entertained all day with kayaking, swimming, bug hunting, archery, tug-of-war, capture the flag, obstical courses, b b gun shooting and swimming. By the time camp is over for the day, my daughter is as tired as can believe, which is fine with me! I would recommend this camp to anybody with a child who likes the outdoors! Great job to all the counselors and especially to Jennifer and Travis!

I happened to take my kids to the lake and the kids from this camp were right beside us at the swimming beach. I WOULD NEVER put my kids in this camp after what I saw. There were a ton of kids and only a few amp leaders. The "leaders" were kids themselves. No one seemed to be in charge. There were little kids swimming off by themselves and no one even noticed. Other kids were throwing rocks and mud at each other. No one said a thing - probably didn't even see them. The worst thing I saw was a counselor hit a kid on the head with a water gun because they were in trouble. That same counselor berated one of the kids calling her fat, constipated and ugly. I could not believe what I was hearing. This place was total chaos. I'm glad I got to observe it as an outsider before ever sending one of my kids there.

I would never recommend this camp to anybdy. The staff is too young and there are to few to be watching the amount of kids that attend. It is a great idea but I think I would quit my job before putting my son back in this camp. And now that its time for taxes I am pretty sure I should have a tax statement from the tuition I paid to the camp. I cant even get a phone call or e-mail back! And I would give it '0' stars but it wouldnt let me!

I had the same experience as the last review posted. My 5 year old was excited to go for the first time, but came home sunburned, dehydrated and sick. The change of clothes I sent were not put on him and his water bottle was still in his bag. I expected him to be red, but not burnt. I was told that there was no way the sunscreen was not applied and that it is applied several times throughout the day. I provided 50 SPF....I don't feel that it was applied like I was told. When I picked him up he was at a table with his head down. When I asked him what was wrong he said he was sick and his ear hurt. No counselor was around him checking on him. It was clear he was dehydrated. Not one of the counselors let me know anything about my son not feeling well. As we were leaving one counselor said he looks tired...I said no he is sick. As we walked to the car he threw up. I feel I should have been called to pick him up if the counselors had been more attentive that he wasn't feeling well. Dealing with children that young there should be more checks and balances to make sure that sunscreen is applied and mandatory water breaks are taken...like an actural record by the counselor that applied the sunscreen and time applied along with actually making the child get their water bottle out of their bag and watching them drink it. You can't assume that children at that age are going to make sure someone applied sunscreen and they drink water...all they want to do is go play and don't understand the consequences of either. So for my son's week of camp he got really sunburned, dehydrated, and trips to the doctor. I was very disappointed with the overall results. For the older kids it is probably a good experience, but for the little ones it's just not supervised well enough in my opinion. Good concept, but not well executed. My son does not want to attend again.

Not Happy at all with my experience at Adventure Day Camp. I took my boys who are 6 and 4 for the first time and had everything in their back pack for the day. The sunscreen never got applied and they got really burned. They never used their water socks, they let them wear their shoes in the water, they never had them put on the change of clothes I packed for them and when my husband went to pick them up, there was no sign out and no sign of a leader around. Would never go again.

Jennifer and all of her counselors at Adventure Day Camp made Summer 2010 a blast for our son David! Thanks to everyone who endured the heat and "boys being boys!!" After a day filled with nature walks, water balloons, fishing, kayaking, swimming, "bug catching", archery, air guns, tug-o-war, etc, David would usually fall asleep by the time we hit the stop sign going out of the park! A parent can't ask for a better day at camp than that! Thanks again everyone and see you next year for sure!

My son LOVES this place! Where else can you find childcare/camp that is on the lake with constant fantastic activities? It is great exercise & such fun. You know your kid is playing hard when he comes home exhausted with dirt on his shoes and grass in his backpack. LOL :) Ms. Jennifer, you have done an awesome job putting this altogether! Keep up the good work!

My kids can't wait to get back with Matt & Jeanne. They loved their week at camp. Archery and bb guns were a HUGE hit with them. Keep up the great work!

This will be my son's 4th summer attending this camp. He loves it! He learned about fishing during his first year and it has become his favorite hobby, something he and dad do regularly. Everything is well run, plenty of varied activities to keep the kids busy and happy even on rainy days. The owners are very hands on and there is plenty of staff to watch all the kids. Can't imagine a better way to spend summer break!

Last summer I was on a quest for my daughter to have a summer she would never forget. Adveture Day Camps has my daughter still talking about last summer and it's the middle of winter! She has the fondest of memories of the kids she met, the archery, kayaking, canoeing, nature walks, arts and crafts and the uncertainty of each days new adventure. Last week she made me promise that she would go back this summer. Thank you Adventure Day Camps for making me the coolest of moms in her eyes! See you next summer ;-)

My kids LOVE this camp! Jennifer is great at planning activities and keeping the kids interested and having fun!

My nephew LOVED this camp! There is so much to do and he got to experience so many new outdoor activities like archery, shooting with bb guns, fishing, kayaking, canoeing, and geocaching. The staff was great and really spent quality time with him. He made lots of new friends. He will definitely go back!

Fantastic camps for kids and activities for families! What a great find!!!
