Located at Fair Park, the African American Museum is the only museum in the southwest dedicated to the preservation and display of African-American art, culture, and history.
This rich heritage is housed in four vaulted galleries. Educational and entertaining programs take place throughout the year in the museum's theater, studio arts areas, and classrooms.
Group tours for 10 or more can be geared to kids according to age group; call 214.219.2049 for reservations or further details.
Family activity days, like Rodeo 101 and the Juneteenth festival, are offered throughout the year. Weekend activities are held regularly for kids of almost every age.
The museum is closed on Mondays, except on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day and during the State Fair of Texas.
