about Aguilar Branch Library:

The Aguilar Branch of the New York Public Library, one of the oldest branch libraries in New York, was founded in 1886 and is named for Grace Aguilar, a Sephardic Jewish author.

The children's room in this friendly and busy branch is on the second floor. Aguilar offers films, story hours, and reading-aloud programs for kids, as well as special music, crafts, and dance programs.

The branch is fully accessible to wheelchairs.

tips:

Every child should have his or her own Library Card. The powerful feeling of recognition as a being in his or her own right goes a long way toward developing a love of libraries and reading. Children from birth to age 11 can have their own cards; applications must be signed and completed by a parent or guardian. Teenagers in 7th grade and up (or 12 and older) must present identification that indicates their grade level or age: a program card, report card, birth certificate, or letter from a teacher on school stationary. Visit www.nypl.org for more information.
