about Aiguille Rock Climbing Center:

Aiguille Rock Climbing Center is a great place for new climbers and experts alike. With climbing walls up to 36 feet high - and plenty of fun closer to the ground - this large indoor center offers lots of rainy day - and hot, sticky day - physical activity. The friendly instructors are especially helpful for newbies and guide all visitors through an introductory class, which is required before you are allowed to climb at the center (you can test out of this class if you've climbed before). Climbers are encouraged to attend with a partner who can be taught the belaying techniques. Belaying is the action required to properly take slack out of the rope as a climber is making forward progress on the wall, and being able to secure the rope when the climber falls. Belayers must be at least 14 years old, and climbers must weigh more than 45 pounds. Professional instructors are on hand to instruct parents or other family members how to belay those who are under 14 years of age. All participants (climbers, belayers, and boulderers) must complete Aiguille's climbing waiver prior to using the facility. Waivers are available at the gym, or on the website. Bouldering - climbing without any ropes or a belayer - as well as climbing classes, personal training, and advanced classes are also offered. Rental equipment is available for a very reasonable price. Team Aiguille is a competitive climbing team for young climber's ages 19 and under who enjoy training with a professional coach and going to competitions together in Florida and beyond. The team meets regularly and seasons run from October to July. Boy Scouts/Girl Scouts over the age of 14 can also earn their Rock Climbing Merit Badge at the center with the certified staff. Call for more information on the programs. Parties and Group Events: Staff belayers teach children and spot them as they climb up and around the numerous walls during a two-hour party. Picnic tables are available for any food or drinks you bring for the party. Reservations and a deposit are required. Contact the staff for current pricing and additional information, including a required parental waiver. Aiguille is also a great choice for group outings, parties, field trips and special events. Discounted rates are available for groups of ten or more; reservations and a deposit are required. Summer Camp: Counselors teach climbing in a fun and structured atmosphere. Kids learn climbing fundamentals, safety, self-reliance, and teamwork. Climbing is accessible to boys and girls ages six and up of any fitness abilities. Weekly camps begin in late May. Full and half-day programs are available. The cost includes rental climbing equipment (shoes, harness, and helmet) as well as team building, challenge activities, and more. The Aiguille Afterschool program provides kids ages six and up with the chance to learn more about the sport of rock climbing while having fun in a structured environment that encourages physical fitness. The program consists of mental challenge activities, team building exercises, crafts, and climbing games. Kids can also do homework and play in a supervised environment. Transportation from select local area schools is provided and full day sessions are available during school vacation days. And as if that wasn't enough, the center also has a 24-foot high rock climbing wall available for rental. It looks natural, can be put practically anywhere, and is fun for all ages and skill levels. Contact the booking department at mobile-mountain@aiguille.com for more information.
