Located at the top of Little Cottonwood Canyon, at an elevation of 9,500 feet, the
Albion Basin Campground has 15 single camp sites for up to eight people and one vehicle, one double site for up to 16 people and two vehicles, and one triple site for up to 24 people and three vehicles. A fee of $5/day is charged for extra vehicles, but since parking is limited, please try to stick to the recommended number of vehicles per site. The campground has accessible restrooms, drinking water, a campground host (on site), a garbage dump station, and firewood is available for purchase.
No pets are allowed (even in the car). The campground's gates are locked from 10pm to 6am. Some recreational opportunities that are available in the immediate vicinity are
fishing (in Little Cottage Creek), hiking (look for the
Cecret Lake Trail trailhead on the west end of the campground), mountain
biking, and wildlife watching, not to mention the stunning scenery. From mid-July to mid-August, campers can expect to see
wildflowers galore. Note that
moose are common here. Please exercise caution when they are around. Although moose may appear to be quite tame, they have been known to charge when scared. To be safe, keep your distance. If you want to get a closer look, have binoculars handy. Sites can be reserved on a first come, first served basis. Reservations must be made at least three days in advance, but spots fill quickly (especially for weekends), so the sooner the reservation is made, the better. Reservations can be made via the website.
